Andres Cazares, LCSW, Social Worker
Pronouns: He/They
Andres Cazares has more than a decade of experience working with and advocating for the transgender and gender expansive communities, specifically in healthcare settings. In preparation for gender-affirming surgeries, he empowers patients with the education and tools they need for the best outcomes. He works collaboratively with patients to develop safe and thoughtful postoperative plans, offering them the resources and support they may need.
Rachel Luscombe, BSN, Nurse Navigator
Pronoun: They
Rachel Luscombe connects with patients before their initial consultation, providing education and resources to help navigate the surgical process from consultation to surgery date and beyond. They work collaboratively with the team to provide postprocedure education and support, including dilation support for people who had vaginoplasty. Before joining the team at NYU Langone, they worked at Amida Care as the Transgender Program Clinical Liaison, where they promoted access to gender-affirming healthcare services and offered support with the insurance authorization process. They also have a background in home care and bedside nursing.
Kevin Moore, BSN, RN, LGBTQ+ Clinical Coordinator and Patient Liaison
Pronoun: He
Kevin Moore is a registered nurse with a background in emergency and trauma care, critical care, and the postanesthesia care unit. He helps patients navigate care at NYU Langone, and guides them in understanding how to prepare for surgery and what to expect afterwards. He works with doctors, nurses, social workers, physical therapists, and specialists to ensure all of our patients’ care needs are met.
Gaines Blasdel, Research Associate
Pronoun: He
Gaines Blasdel supports the work of the transgender health team in research and innovation, coordinating academic projects with a focus on sexual health and patient-reported outcomes. Before joining the team, he helped LGBTQ+ adolescents navigate healthcare at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, and he remains active in providing volunteer peer education for those seeking gender-affirming surgery.
