Our Approach to Treating

Aortic Valve Disease

At NYU Langone, cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, interventional cardiologists, and imaging specialists work as a team to treat people who have aortic valve disease, in which an important heart valve is damaged. Two common conditions that affect the valve’s ability to work correctly include aortic stenosis and aortic regurgitation.

Cardiac Surgeons Review Heart Images

Doctors at our Heart Valve Center specialize in minimally invasive techniques to repair or replace a damaged aortic valve. They perform the latest and most effective procedures, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). NYU Langone specialists from our Transcatheter Heart Valve Program have performed more than 6,000 transcatheter aortic valve procedures, and ours is one of the busiest programs in the country.

Treatment for Aortic Valve Disease

Treatment for aortic valve disease can include watchful waiting, nonsurgical transcatheter procedures, or surgery, which can be performed using minimally invasive procedures.
