About Me
I love vascular surgery because it is one of the few surgical specialties that treat the entire body, taking a holistic approach. A problem with someone’s circulation is indicative of their overall health and wellness. With surgery, I can restore function and quality of life to patients, enabling them to return to living their best lives.
My choice to dedicate myself to a career in surgery stemmed from a desire to help people in the most personal way possible. I grew up in Kenya, where surgical services and access to high-quality care were not readily available: being able to acquire the skills and knowledge to help people in need was always important to me.
At NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, I treat people of all ages and walks of life. I work with patients confronting a wide variety of blood vessel conditions, including aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease, varicose veins, lymphedema, arterial disease that interferes with walking, and diabetic wounds, such as foot ulcers. I perform minimally invasive and surgical procedures to improve blood flow and promote wound healing.
When I create a treatment plan, I carefully consider the patient’s needs and goals. I consider people’s lifestyles and unique circumstances, so I can provide them with individualized treatment. The decision to undergo surgery is a personal one. I treat patients with respect and recommend surgery only when it is necessary to achieve the best outcomes.
In addition to caring for patients, I am actively involved in clinical research focusing on vascular disease outcomes in women and disparities in healthcare.
