About Me
As a psychologist at the Child Study Center, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to providing individualized and collaborative care for children, adolescents, and families facing mental health challenges. My approach is rooted in developing a strong therapeutic relationship and using evidence-based practices. I am passionate about helping my patients unlock their potential, reduce symptoms, and improve family and interpersonal dynamics. I believe in empowering children, adolescents, and their caregivers by building on strengths while addressing weaknesses.
I specialize in treating a range of mental health concerns, including attentional issues, disruptive behaviors, mood and anxiety conditions, and high-risk behaviors such as harmful conflict, physical or verbal aggression, and drug use. With extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and parent management training (PMT), I also focus on supporting autonomy, fostering motivation to change, and working through ambivalence, which is an expected part of the treatment process.
I also often work with families who have plateaued, found previous therapy ineffective, or who have teens who are unwilling to engage in individual therapy. I work to improve family communication and relationships, benefiting all family members, not just the identified patient. I also emphasize the importance of closely collaborating and consulting with schools, recognizing that school issues impact mental health, and vice versa. Additionally, I support positive peer engagement, particularly in adolescents, as peers become a central focus during this developmental stage.
I am passionate about education and training, and I consider myself a lifelong learner. As our department’s director of education administration, I support our psychology, psychiatry, and social work training programs, as well as the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Studies Undergraduate Program at NYU. I also teach undergraduate courses and serve as a clinical supervisor to social work fellows. My research interests include novel parenting interventions for teens with disruptive behaviors and using academic courses as interventions to build resilience in undergraduate students.
