About Me
When I was a medical student, I loved that every question about what was going on with a patient led to the response, “Let’s go down to radiology and find out.” I’ve always thought of radiologists as puzzle solvers. Having the chance to see what’s otherwise invisible and to solve medical mysteries is why I chose radiology, and it has become my life’s passion.
I joined NYU Langone in 2008 to become chair of the Department of Radiology and to specialize in musculoskeletal radiology, focusing on the imaging of soft tissue, bones, and joints. My research involves using MRI to study articular cartilage, the tissue covering bone endings, so that we can detect cartilage injury and degeneration before they become irreversible.
I am proud that our department has taken a leading role in defining the value of imaging. We have developed and implemented several initiatives to assure the highest-quality—and most patient-centered—imaging services.
