The NYU Langone Health—Cobble Hill emergency department (ED) is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for walk-in visits and ambulances. We’re located at the corner of Amity Street and Hicks Street in Cobble Hill.
Our team of doctors and staff from the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine specializes in emergency medicine and can assist adults and children with urgent healthcare needs. Through high definition telemedicine, or video teleconferencing, various specialists from NYU Langone are also available for consultation. Care for children is provided through Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone.
We also offer advanced imaging services, a hospital satellite pharmacy that has oral and intravenous (IV) medications, and an on-site laboratory for rapid test results.
The vast majority of patients are treated and then discharged to their homes. For those who require hospital admission after receiving initial treatment, we have two ambulances available on-site to transfer you to one of several receiving hospitals in Brooklyn, including NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, NYU Langone’s affiliate, which has Level 1 trauma service.
If you require clinical services not offered by one of our Brooklyn affiliates, we can transfer you to NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital or NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital in Manhattan.
NYU Langone is a weapon-free zone. A weapon is any item capable of causing injury or harm, and includes firearms, knives, and any item that is illegal to own or use under the law. Licensed gun carriers and others may not enter with a gun unless they are law enforcement on active duty.
Our Freestanding Emergency Department
For Emergencies
Please dial 911 if you or a loved one is experiencing an emergency.
NYU Langone Health—Cobble Hill is a freestanding emergency department. This means our medical experts can diagnose and treat people with the types of emergencies typically seen in a hospital emergency room—including stroke and heart attack—but we’re not located within a hospital.
Our services are more comprehensive than those offered by a typical urgent care center, which usually does not have advanced imaging services or emergency trained nurses.
