Recognition
U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” ranks Rusk Rehabilitation among the top 5 programs in the nation for rehabilitation.
Our physical therapists provide care for adults recovering from the following common conditions, injuries, and procedures:
Occupational therapy is available for people with injuries or illnesses of the hand and arm to help them regain strength, dexterity, and function. Treatments are provided for people healing from wounds, scars, amputations, fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, and those diagnosed with hand arthritis, joint contracture, nerve injury, tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and neurological disorders. We provide a variety of treatments, including custom splint fabrication, in which a hand therapist makes a molded splint to precisely fit your hand and your specific issue.
We provide speech–language pathology services for adults with swallowing disorders, voice disorders, speech and language disorders, and cognitive disorders. These are often related to stroke, traumatic brain injury, or conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.
Children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental delays can receive speech–language pathology services. We also provide therapy for children who have articulation or phonological disorders and receptive–expressive language disorders. Premature babies often have feeding issues, and we can provide therapy to help them with swallowing.
We also provide audiology services to diagnose hearing loss in adults and children. When hearing is affected, a person’s speech and language skills can be impacted as well. The audiologist performs several different tests to determine the cause of hearing loss and its severity, and in communication with your physician can provide a referral to a specialist if needed.
Audiological tests performed include a complete audiological evaluation for adults and children and otoacoustic emissions to test hearing in children.
