NYU Langone does not offer inpatient or outpatient treatment for addiction, but our specialists can refer people who are addicted to alcohol or drugs to local treatment programs. The goals are to help a person stop using drugs or alcohol; cope with the symptoms of withdrawal, or detoxification; and prevent a relapse.
Inpatient and outpatient treatment programs are available to people addicted to alcohol or drugs. Those with severe addiction may be good candidates for an inpatient program, whereas those who do not need daily support or have less flexible schedules may benefit from outpatient treatment. Our doctors can recommend the program that best suits the person’s needs.
NYU Langone clinicians can help coordinate a person’s recovery after treatment. Upon the completion of an addiction treatment program, NYU Langone clinicians provide counseling and educate family members on addiction. They can also recommend local support groups.
