Cataract
A cataract, or a clouding of the lens in the eye, is one of the most common conditions affecting older adults. By age 80, more than half of Americans are diagnosed with at least one cataract. If you have a cataract, your vision can become blurred, or you may perceive that colors are fading or yellowing.
NYU Langone's eye specialists are committed to helping you preserve your eye health and adapt to changes in your vision as you age. Our staff includes some of the nation’s top ophthalmologists. They are experienced in using the latest technology to remove cataracts and restore eyesight safely and successfully.
Treatment for Cataract
Surgery is the only effective treatment available to people with cataracts. At NYU Langone, our specialists offer safe, minimally invasive outpatient procedures. Most people are able to see better and resume normal activities within just a few days.
