About Me
As a devoted psychiatrist at NYU Langone, my commitment to the wellbeing of my patients is unwavering. My interest in psychology, sparked during my college years, has blossomed into a rewarding psychiatric career. Helping patients navigate their mental health challenges brings me great fulfillment, and I am equally enthusiastic about my role as a clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Langone.
My specialty lies in addressing a range of conditions such as anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and personality disorders. I also offer therapy for individuals grappling with relationship issues and sexual health concerns. My therapeutic approach is diverse, incorporating various perspectives to deliver the most effective treatment. I advocate for active engagement with my patients, fostering a strong therapeutic relationship through attentive listening and interaction.
In addition to my practice, I hold the position of director of The Human Sexuality Program. This program provides behavioral, short-term therapy for individuals experiencing sexual dysfunctions. I take pride in having trained over 300 mental health professionals in the practice of sex therapy. I also host a show on Sirius’ Dr. Radio, where I discuss sexual health and wellbeing, extending my reach to those seeking guidance.
My career in psychiatry is characterized by a proactive approach to healthcare and a steadfast dedication to patient wellbeing. I firmly believe in the link between mental and physical health, and I am committed to helping my patients lead more fulfilling and functional lives.
My journey into medicine was inspired by my fascination with psychology and a desire to make a significant difference in patients’ lives. My medical training reinforced my sense of duty and equipped me with the skills to effectively treat psychiatric illnesses. I am also the proud co-editor of Kaplan and Sadock’s Comprehensive Textbook of Psychiatry, a widely utilized resource in the field, now in its 11th edition. I am fortunate to work in a field that brings me immense satisfaction and allows me to assist others in a meaningful way.
