About Me
It was right around my 10th birthday, after I had been admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (ICU) for a week, that I knew I wanted to become a doctor and help other people. I spent the next 15 years working toward that goal by attending medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine and then completing my pediatric residency at NYU School of Medicine.
The decision to specialize in neonatology was an easy one. I really enjoy working with the smallest, yet most complex, patients; helping them to grow, develop, and mature during those first critical weeks to months of life. I also really appreciate the relationships I get to build with all the families of my patients, as I am often their child’s first pediatric provider. Working in the NICU (neonatal ICU) at NYU Langone with a multidisciplinary team allows me to provide comprehensive care for my patients and their families.
I am also very interested in the long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes of high-risk NICU patients, such as those born preterm or with congenital heart disease. Being the medical director of the Neonatal Comprehensive Care Program (NCCP), which provides developmental assessments for high-risk neonatal (newborn) graduates, allows me to continue to follow many of my NICU patients and their families even years after they have been discharged.
