Dravet Center
The Dravet Center at NYU Langone’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is committed to providing high-quality care to patients with Dravet syndrome and related disorders.
Dravet syndrome is a severe form of epilepsy that begins in the first year of life. Seizures can be difficult to control and often affect cognitive function. As a level 4 epilepsy center, we have the professional expertise and facilities to provide the highest level of medical, dietary, and surgical evaluation and treatment for patients with this complex form of epilepsy.
Both the medical and nonmedical needs of patients are addressed. We treat every patient individually, and we work with a comprehensive care network of epilepsy centers to develop and optimize a standard of care for Dravet syndrome. We also participate in basic science and clinical research protocols.
If inpatient care is needed, patients are admitted to either the pediatric or adult epilepsy monitoring units at NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital. Our medical team includes epileptologists, neuropsychologists, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, parent liaisons, and social workers. Patients also have access to our established ketogenic diet program, which is staffed full-time by registered dietitians.
