Our lab specializes in using noninvasive and painless breathing tests to diagnose lung conditions in children.
At the Pediatric Pulmonary Function Laboratory, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, we have the expertise required to accurately measure lung function in children, which can help us diagnose lung conditions, measure the severity of current lung disorders, and gauge the effectiveness of ongoing treatments.
When your child comes to our lab, an experienced respiratory therapist puts your family at ease by explaining and demonstrating each test, answering questions, and coaching your child through every breathing test. In fact, some children even find it fun to participate in the breathing exercises because we make them as child-friendly as possible by using techniques such as computer animations that make testing feel like a game.
Our lab offers the latest and most advanced pulmonary function tests currently available. We are one of few centers in the New York City area approved by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to perform sweat tests that can rule out or confirm whether a child has cystic fibrosis, an inherited lung and digestive condition.
Our pediatric experts provide the best care possible for conditions that affect children, ranging from minor illnesses to complex, more serious conditions.
