You do not need to belong to a specific faith tradition to request a visit from a chaplain. Our chaplains are trained to counsel people of different faiths, as well as those who are not religious. Our diverse team includes rabbis, Roman Catholic priests, Protestant ministers, and an imam.

Religious spaces, Bikur Cholim rooms, and meditation rooms are available at various Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital locations. Please ask your nurse for details.

You may request our services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are also able to perform religious services, such as baptism.

How a Chaplain Can Help

Having a child in the hospital may be an overwhelming experience for the entire family. Services provided by Sala Institute are focused on improving the wellbeing of children and families. Our chaplains are available when you need someone to talk with about your child’s diagnosis or prognosis, your child’s treatment needs, or any feelings related to your child’s hospital stay. We listen and help you explore your spiritual struggles.

Chaplain with Pediatric Patient

Chaplains are available to provide your child and family with religious and spiritual support.

We also counsel children and teenagers. Our chaplains can help your child deal with feelings of fear, blame, or guilt. Any time we talk with children, we are respectful of your family’s religious beliefs. We know that spiritual understanding depends heavily on a child’s age and maturity. We can counsel the entire family together and help you deal with complex emotions.
