At NYU Langone, our doctors manage low- and high-risk pregnancies for thousands of women each year. Our physicians are committed to providing individualized and compassionate care, including prenatal counseling, screening for health conditions and genetic abnormalities, pregnancy management, support during labor and delivery, and postpartum care.
NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital, NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, and NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island are certified by The Joint Commission for advanced perinatal care in recognition of our commitment to quality and safety before, during, and after childbirth.
All of our hospitals have also achieved Baby-Friendly Hospital certification from Baby-Friendly USA in recognition of our dedication to supporting breastfeeding. This starts by providing breastfeeding education and assistance during the hospital stay, and continues through our breastfeeding support programs. This prestigious designation is awarded to hospitals that excel in providing optimal care for infant feeding and mother–baby bonding.
Our doctors are experts in vaginal and cesarean deliveries. Women interested in having a vaginal birth after cesarean, also known as VBAC, are counseled, informed, and assisted throughout pregnancy and delivery.
High-risk pregnancy experts with our maternal–fetal medicine services team manage conditions that can affect pregnancy, including preterm labor, genetic abnormalities, hypertension, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and autoimmune diseases, such as lupus. Our Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) at Tisch Hospital, NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, and NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn are equipped to care for babies born before 37 weeks of pregnancy, including those with a very low birth weight and other medical conditions.
NYU Langone offers classes, support groups, and resources for new and expecting parents.
Doctors at NYU Langone perform a pelvic exam and urine and blood testing to confirm pregnancy. They manage pregnancy with blood and urine tests, ultrasound, genetic testing, and fetal monitoring. Our experts can provide pain management during labor.
