Pediatric Diabetes Center Care Team
The team of diabetes experts at the Pediatric Diabetes Center, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, partners with you and your child to help manage all aspects of diabetes in children.
Our Care Team
In addition to our pediatric endocrinologists, the following medical professionals are members of your child’s care team.
- Vanessa Wissing, RD, CDCES
Ms. Wissing is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist. She provides education and guidance to help children and their families better manage diabetes and overall health.
- BPBridget Pazeti, RD, CDCES
Ms. Pazeti is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist. She helps children and their families better manage diabetes and overall health by educating them about healthy food choices and ways to manage diabetes.
- Christine Lally, RN, CDCES
Ms. Lally is a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator. She provides education and support to patients, families, and caregivers, and helps them fit diabetes management into their lives in a healthful way.
- Jeniece Ilkowitz, RN, MA, CDCES
Ms. Ilkowitz is a registered nurse, certified diabetes care and education specialist, and clinical research nurse. She connects patients with research opportunities, such as clinical trials or screening opportunities for relatives, and coordinates quality improvement initiatives for the department.
- RCRebecca Chong, RN
Ms. Chong is a registered nurse. She provides nursing support as well as education to children, families, and caregivers.
- HTHolly Tunick, RN, CDCES
Ms. Tunik is a registered nurse and certified diabetes care and education specialist. She provides nursing support as well as diabetes education to children, families, and caregivers.
- Mary Ann Harris, MSW, LCSW
Ms. Harris is a senior social worker who specializes in working with children and adolescents who have a chronic illness. She provides clinical social work services to children and their caregivers to help them cope with the psychological and social challenges related to illness.
- Elyssa Auerfeld, MS, CCLS
Ms. Auerfeld is a certified child life specialist. She helps children and families understand and cope with healthcare experiences by supporting children during tests and procedures as well as providing opportunities for play and creative expression.
- LRLaysa Rodriguez, BA
Ms. Rodriguez is a research coordinator with the pediatric diabetes team and helps families connect with opportunities to participate in diabetes research.
