Cerebral palsy is a group of neurological disorders that develop in early childhood and affect a person’s body movement and posture. At both the Center for Children, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, and the Elly Hammerman Center for Treatment of Neuromuscular Disorders, our doctors are dedicated to improving your child’s functioning and quality of life by providing care that focuses on all aspects of the child’s development.
This team of specialists includes neonatologists, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, geneticists, physiatrists, and developmental pediatricians. Depending on each child’s needs, our team may also include physical and occupational therapists, speech–language pathologists, orthotists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and psychologists.
Our doctors collaborate in all aspects of diagnosis and treatment, from infancy through adulthood. Our team also includes social workers, nurses, and child life specialists to ensure that families are educated and informed during every stage of a child’s care.
