Cardiac Electrophysiology for Children

If your child has an irregular heartbeat, or heart rhythm problem, experts at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone provide all the diagnostic and treatment services your child may need.

Each year, our pediatric electrophysiologists perform more than 100 catheter ablations, pacemaker insertions, and cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantations, as well as other complex procedures. Our success rate in using the latest cardiac ablation technology to treat Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome is 100 percent. In procedures where fluoroscopy is used to visualize the moving heart, we limit radiation exposure time. Our average fluoroscopy time is 1.5 minutes, and 30 percent of procedures are done with zero fluoroscopy exposure.

In collaboration with our Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program, we also manage arrhythmias in adults with congenital heart disease.

We treat many children with arrhythmias each year, so we understand how arrhythmias are different in children than adults.
