Cardiology for Children

Our pediatric cardiologists provide exceptional care for children with heart disease from diagnosis through recovery, both in the hospital and during outpatient visits to the doctor’s office.

We diagnose congenital heart defects and acquired heart disease in infants, children, and adolescents using techniques such as echocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, stress treadmill exercise testing, and electrophysiology studies.

Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone is the highest ranked in New York for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Through our Pediatric Heart Failure and Transplant Program, we provide the most advanced care for children who have heart failure, including ventricular assist device therapy and heart pumps that are used in preparation for heart transplant.

We also care for patients throughout the hospital, including in the Congenital Cardiovascular Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, newborn nursery, and labor and delivery unit.

In addition to cardiac catheterization, our cardiologists use advanced cardiac imaging techniques, such as three-dimensional echocardiography and cardiac MRI, to diagnose all forms of complex congenital heart disease. When surgical treatment is required, Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital pediatric cardiologists work collaboratively with our cardiothoracic surgeons and nurse practitioners to accurately define the diagnosis and care for your child during and after surgery.

Our pediatric cardiologists are also actively involved in research aimed at preventing both congenital and acquired heart disease in children.

In addition to caring for children, we provide consultations for adults with congenital heart disease.
