Horticultural therapy gives children who are undergoing inpatient medical care access to something they crave: the outside world.
Working with plants, flowers, leaves, and other elements of nature gives children the chance to socialize and learn new skills. It’s also a proven mood booster that helps children relax and feel a sense of accomplishment. Horticultural therapists, part of Rusk Rehabilitation, care for children at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone.
In collaboration with pediatric occupational therapists, multisensory horticultural activities are used in our two-week summer camp for children experiencing weakness on one side of their body caused by a variety of neurological and orthopedic conditions.
We can help you find a Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital doctor.
